Sports and Entertainment

Washington County Convention Center is involved in numerous varieties of entertainment and sports in the Delta, from fashion shows and fundraising concerts to basketball games and rodeos. A portable hardwood floor transforms the 25,000 square-foot exhibit hall into a basketball court with bleachers seating 500.

It has been the site for events such as the Harlem Ambassadors, Mississippi Valley State University basketball games, Mississippi Delta Community College basketball, and games between Greenville High and O’Bannon high schools. The area would also be ideal for cheerleading and dance competitions. The Exhibit Hall has also been the site of balls, fashion shows (with runway), musical fundraisers, community-wide and private parties, music festivals, and well-known entertainers such as Silk and Meet the Browns.

Legion Field is the home field for Mississippi Valley State University and venue of Washington County Baseball League tournaments. Beginning this year, a wooden bat minor league team will use the fields for their summer games. Teams wishing to use Legion Field must receive authorization from the Washington County Board of Supervisors.

Greenville Speedway hosts exciting competitions, weekly racing, and cash prizes. Check out their website for schedules and the most current updates.

The Horse Track, located in the Red Rempson Expo Building, is used annually by the Washington County Mounted Sheriff’s Posse for their Horse Show in June and other events. The Mid-Delta Horse Show Association also gathers at the Expo Building for horse shows in April and June. In May 2013, the Red Rempson Memorial Association is hosting the Team Ghost Riders in the Rempson Arena. All profits are used to improve the arena.
